Important Notice: Hwy 857 Bridge Maintenance Traffic Restrictions

Dear Residents and Motorists,
We wish to inform all users, particularly local farmers who rely on the Hwy 857 bridge over the North Saskatchewan River to transport their equipment during the upcoming farming season, that the bridge will undergo essential maintenance.
During this period, please be advised that the bridge will experience certain traffic restrictions to facilitate safe and effective repairs. Specifically, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding weekends, the bridge will be closed to wide loads. However, a single lane with a width of 3.7 meters will remain open to accommodate regular traffic and ensure the safe and steady flow of vehicles.
Wide loads will be permitted to cross only outside of active working hours, that is, during nights and weekends when no crew members are present on the bridge. This restriction is necessary because our maintenance crew will station extensive equipment on the bridge deck, including specialized machinery required to carry out exterior repairs to the bridge curbs. Frequent interruptions caused by moving this equipment to allow wide loads passage could significantly delay the project’s timely completion.
Our team is committed to working diligently to complete the repairs as promptly as possible, aiming to restore full capacity to the bridge for all users. We appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout this important maintenance period.
