Smoky Lake County Confirms Chyenne Shaw as Chief Administrative Officer

SMOKY LAKE COUNTY, AB- Smoky Lake County Council is pleased to announce that Chyenne Shaw has successfully completed her probationary period as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Chyenne was appointed as the Chief Administrative Officer on February 18, 2026, bringing experience in both emergency management and municipal administration to the role. Since joining the County, Chyenne has worked closely with Council, staff, regional partners and the community to advance several important priorities, including:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of the County’s 2026–2028 Strategic Plan;
  • Strengthening regional partnerships and intermunicipal collaboration;
  • Advancing organizational modernization, workforce planning and succession initiatives;
  • Reviewing County policies, bylaws and administrative processes;
  • Improving communication, accountability and collaboration across departments;
  • Supporting infrastructure planning, asset management and service-delivery improvements; and
  • Strengthening the County’s emergency management planning and preparedness.

Council recognizes Chyenne’s leadership, commitment and dedication since her appointment and looks forward to continuing this important work together.
