The Smoky Lake County Annual Report guides residents, businesses, community members, and the public through how municipal tax dollars were invested to deliver projects, programs and services that create a safe, sustainable and prosperous County. Read messages from the Reeve and Chief Administrative Officer; the County by the numbers; profiles about partnerships and achievements; operational highlights by service area; and the audited Financial Statements for both Smoky Lake County and Smoky Lake County Gas Utility.

These reports provide an overview of key initiatives, operational highlights, and ongoing projects across the organization by both Administration and Department Managers. By sharing regular updates, we aim to support transparency, keep residents engaged, and provide a clear snapshot of the work happening throughout the County.

At the Organizational Meeting of Smoky Lake County held on October 30th, Craig was proudly elected as the Reeve of the County.

Reeve Lukinuk has been a resident of Smoky Lake County since 1996. In 2002 he opened Rivers Edge Computers in the Town of Smoky Lake. He was elected in 2013 and served two terms with Smoky Lake County Council until 2021.

Following his initial election, he chose to close his computer business, which he had founded in 2002, to dedicate his full attention to serving as the councillor for Division 3. During his eight years on Council, he served the last 5 years as Reeve, up until 2021. In the 2021 election, Craig narrowly lost by only four votes, a result he chose not to contest. After leaving his roles as Division 3 Councillor and Reeve, he reopened Rivers Edge Computers to once again provide valued services to the community. He is pleased to share that the business will remain open and will continue serving residents moving forward.

Reeve Lukinuk feels deeply honored to once again serve as the Reeve of Smoky Lake County. He extends his sincere gratitude for the trust and support of the community and looks forward to the years ahead.

In addition to his responsibilities as Reeve, he serves as a member, alternate, and director on several boards and committees, including Alberta’s Lakeland Destination Management Organization (DMO), the Alberta Care Board, Evergreen Regional Waste Management Commission, the Highway 28/63 Regional Water Services Commission, the Intermunicipal Collaboration Committees for both the Smoky Lake Region and Thorhild County, the Northern Lights Library System Board, Physicians and Healthcare Professionals Committee, the Regional Community Development Committee (RCDC), the Regional Emergency Management Advisory Committee, the Risk Pro Management Committee, the Smoky Lake Heritage Board, the Smoky Lake Foundation, and the Ukrainian Twinning Committee.
