FIRE ADVISORY IN EFFECT

Effective 10:30 AM on October 28, 2025

Smoky Lake County is downgrading the current fire restriction to a FIRE ADVISORY.

During this Fire Advisory:

  • New fire permits will be issued for essential burning only and may require an inspection prior to approval.
  • Fireworks permits may be issued on a case-by-case basis.
  • Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) can start wildfires. Please check your OHV frequently to ensure hotspots are free of debris and that mufflers and spark arrestors are functioning properly.
  • Burning barrels are permitted if they are well-maintained and in good working condition.
    • Barrels must be covered with a metal mesh screen with openings no larger than 6mm (1/4").
    • Barrels must be placed at least 100 feet away from any structures or standing timber.
    • A 10-foot non-combustible perimeter around the barrel is maintained.

Please remain cautious when burning or having a fire and never leave a campfire unattended. Ensure the fire is completely extinguished. Soak it, stir it, soak it again. Repeat as necessary. Ashes should be cool to touch.
