Federal Fuel Charge Increase
CARBON LEVY IMPACT
Effective April 1, 2025
This charge will increase to $4.86/GJ
Please be aware of this increase will start on the April Utility Bills.
The current price of $80 per tonne (of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions) for heating fuels will increase on April 1, 2025 to $95 per tonne. These rates are prescribed by the Government of Canada on an increasing scale and are scheduled to increase to $170 per tonne by
April 2030.
Natural Gas Utilities are required to charge these rates as per the federal Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act. All fees charged under this Act are remitted directly to Revenue Canada.
The new rate will be automatically applied to your bill for natural gas consumed beginning April 1, 2025
